Another SXSW under the belt. This year was by far the best time i've had in Austin, TX. Coming off a week of the "BLOW'd Tour" with Cherub in the mid west where snow is still falling. Arriving in Austin was exactly what we all needed. The Cherub dudes were loaded with showcases, interviews, meeting/greetings, and a non stop shenanigans mentality. Kicking it with this crew is beyond fun and the entertainment really never ends. They destroyed all their showcases. Making label reps drool over the duo's performances. Ending in stage dives, Champaign explosions, and wet panties. So stoked to get back on the road on the 25th and start putting this footage we've been collecting together! This is gonna be a good one!
Also had the pleasure of getting asked to cover the OWSLA showcases. Until now, this is a team I've always had mad respect for. Between their artists and small team involved they really know how to run a thriving family. Not to mention I've been a huge fan of Sonny Moore's projects since I was like 15. So getting a chance to collab with them on a project is something really special to me. This gave me access to not only shoot all the OWSLA artist but also huge artist in the rap game such as ASAP Rocky, Wiz Khalifa, Riff Raff, Schoolboy Q, and god knows who else was on that stage. Shit was out of control.
Besides the work side of things at SXSW we had the Two Fresh guys's birthday Friday at SXSW. Which I was unfortunately incapable of attending due to a sore throat from hell that knocked me out for a night. (Some times your body can't keep up, and you have to make the call to sit one out.) So happy Birthday to those dudes! As well as the man at www.thissongissick.com himself Nick Guarino's Birthday. Which included a comp'ed mini bar and hot tub session which did us all wonders after the long week.
I think 4 paragraphs is enough. I try to keep these things short, There was so much more that went down this weekend this will give you all an idea of whats to come from MIXED MEDIA. Super successful SXSW for all! 2014 seems to be the year that everyone is making serious moves. I FUCKING LOVE IT. And I finally got a wide angle lens.... I gave in.
Thanks for reading ya'll.
